Driving Question:
What would daily life be like if was a Canadian soldier fighting on the Western Front during World War One?
The Task:
Seems like a tough question. We have been examining World War One over the past few weeks. Your job is to create a project of your choice that shows what daily life was like for Canadians in the trenches during the Great War.
This will be a five class project that will require you to plan your time wisely. Here is an idea of what your classes should consist of:
- Day 1: This class should be a brainstorm/collaboration class. With your group decide on your project style and what you hope to create. Start the first two sections of the learning log I will be giving you.
-Day 2: This class should be devoted to research. Examine and explore daily life for soldiers during World War One. Gather and document all of your sources.
-Day 3: This class you should aim to have most of your research done and work underway on the project you choose. Be sure to divide your team so each has an assigned task or role.
-Day 4: Finalize your project and prepare for presentations. Make sure all members of the role have something to present.
-Day 5: Presentations. Show your classmates the results of your hard work. Have fun presenting your project and enjoying the work from the other groups. Finish learning log which I have given you.

The Process:
Once you are in your group of three, you need to decide which type of project you wish to create. These could include: a model of a World War One battlefield, a photoessay, a slideshow presentation, or a movie.
The possibilities are endless. The links below will show you examples of what could be included for each of the above examples. If you decide to do something different, check with me before starting. I will leave the final project style up to you but you must make sure it shows the personal side of war. Ask yourself: "What would my life be like if I was a soldier in World War One?"
